Job Description

We are looking to grow our Asset & Wealth Management Technology capabilities in Buenos Aires, adding to 1,000+ JP Morgan technologists already in the location. We are looking for an Executive Director to lead our build out in Buenos Aires, and assume on-going responsibility for Asset & Wealth Management Technology resources in the location. The individual will be a dynamic leader, focused on strategic vision, cross functional coordination, growing talent, coordinating with cross functional peers and able to lead across extreme complex and challenging environments.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Work in partnership with our Asset & Wealth Management Technology leadership along with our Buenos Aires Corporate Center Technology leadership, to establish a strong local presence and direction as part of our vision for Asset & Wealth Management Technology.
  • Implement our overarching technology strategy, developing and managing a strong team of modern skilled technology resources capable of agile delivery, full stack development, DevOps and SRE, cloud native development, and machine learning deliveries.
  • Take ownership of driving strategic initiatives which align and support our organizations' goals. Examples include AWS migrations for on-premise applications, and modernizing our data platform.
  • Function as a strong contributor to the Asset & Wealth Management Technology leadershuip team, supporting, reinforcing and defending the mission, values, philospophy and culture of the organization.
  • Mentor, guide and coach team leads and and other direct reports, supporting matrixed functional reporting lines across the Asset & Wealth Management Technology organization.
  • Continually assess current capabilities of the Asset & Wealth Management Technology organization in Buenos Aires, and ensure that training, coaching and mentoring programs are developed, implemented and effective for all levels of stafff.

Required Skills:
  • A strong track record as a technology leader managing large teams in a global organisation, with financial services experience a strong advantage.
  • Ability and willingness to make decisions, take accountability, and hold others accountable for results.
  • Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity, deal with competing priorities and tight deadlines, and work collaboratively with strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, develop innovative solutions and challenge the status quo. Demonstrated abilities at a senior level in designing, leading and executing technology strategies and large scale transformation initiatives across a global organization.
  • A strong hands on technology background, including hands on experience with some or all of:
    • Full stack development in Java (preferred), Python or other object oriented languages.
    • Agile methodologies - Scrum, Kanban, XP etc.
    • Cloud deliveries (AWS preferred).
    • DevOps and SRE.
    • Machine learning.
